Notes

Plains Pipes & Drums is “The Friendly Band” and welcomes all ages and skill levels. Tuition in Piping and Drumming is provided free of charge. We have a number of members who do not play but are just as much part of the band as the players. We welcome visitors to play with us or just to listen. We also have a highland dance group “The Plains Highland Dancers” who often perform with us. Dance tuition is from 5:00pm Tuesdays at the Smithurst Theatre.

We are not a competition band, but several of our members also play with Hawkesbury Nepean Valley in competition as well as with Celtic Rock Band “Highlander”.

History

Plains Pipes & Drums is located in Gunnedah and was established and incorporated in February 2006. We have adopted and wear the Fraser (Red Modern) Tartan.
We are proud to be ambassadors for Gunnedah and we will perform where possible at any location throughout the North West of NSW.
David Walker and Heather Martin traveled to Scotland with Hawkesbury Nepean Valley Pipe Band to compete in the 2010 World Championships.
