The Council of Pipe bands Australia, NSW Branch promoted a tune writing contest to honour the long and dedicated service of Mr Robert Macpherson - who has driven the organisation of the Maclean contest in Northern NSW for longer than he cares to remember!  His hard work and enthusiasm have had a marked impact on the promotion of the pipe band movement in norther NSW.

The successful tune “Strong is the Spirit” was composed by Graham Wood and can be heard by downloading the zip file here played by Vice Principal of Piping, Garry Barker.
