East Coast Mini Band Contest

Gathering of the Clans, Norah Head will be hosting a Mini Band Contest on Saturday 5th September, 2015 in conjunction with the Gathering of the Clans. The contest will be held on the Norah Head Sports Field, Bungarry Rd, Norah Head. This form can be used for both the Mini Band Contest and the Annual Gathering of the Clans Band Participation Interest. The Conditions of Entry do not apply to the Gathering Participation Expression of Interest.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. The Contest will be conducted in accordance with the Pipe Bands Australia Inc. Contest Regulations in force at the date of the contest.
  2. You may enter more than one mini band provided only the Pipe Major, bass drummer and leading snare drummer are the only people to play in multiple sets as per Rule C.1.02
  3. All bands must be covered by Public Liability Insurance. A copy of your current policy should be attached with your EOI.
  4. The organising committee reserves the right to reject any entry, curtail, postpone or cancel any event or otherwise deal with the programme if they deem it necessary.
  5. No entry fee will be refunded.
  6. Competitors take part entirely at their own risk.
  7. A representative (Band Liaison Officer) from all bands must report to the Contest Supervisor at least ONE hour before the commencement of their first contest element.
  8. Whether played indoors or outdoors, the playing area will be deemed a stage or dais, and bands will form an open fronted formation (not a closed circle) to play their contest elements.
  9. A pro-forma draw will be circulated prior to the event. A final draw will be published near the performance area on the day.
  10. Grade 4 will be first, followed by Grades 3, 2 and 1. The contest will commence at approximately 10am. A band representative must report to the contest organisers ONE HOUR before the start time so the Contest Supervisor can conduct the final draw in accordance with Rule C.1.05.01, and then place the draw in a prominent position adjacent to the contest area. This will be done to avoid gaps in the playing programme.

PLAYING REQUIREMENTS

All grades will be required to play a Medleyof the band's own choice:

(1) for Grades 1 and 2, not less than 5 or more than 7 minutes,

(2) for Grade 3, not less than 4 or more than 6 minutes,

(3) for Grades 4 and Juvenile, not less than 3 or more than 5 minutes
